If we want to make any positive changes to our finances, the first place we need to start is finding out where we are at the moment. Even if you’re feeling unsure, a bit lost, or if you don’t know what you want to do with your money yet, then that’s the place to start.
Imagine your financial journey as a road trip. Whenever I’m traveling, I like to use Google Maps. The first thing that happens when I put my destination into Google Maps is that it will pinpoint to where I am at the moment. Once it has done that, it starts to work out the best way to get there. And I can change things as I go. If I make a wrong turn or if I want to take another route, that’s all fine because it’s still going to keep me headed to my destination.
Our finances are essentially the same. Start by examining your current situation. Where are you sitting with your finances? Do you know exactly where you are? Once you’ve done that, you can put in the right money habits that’ll help you get to where you want to go.
To get you started, I’ve got a great tool for you called the “Financial Snapshot”. You can grab your copy here. What did you learn about your current financial situation? Let me know in the comments below.
PS: If you’re already curious about the right money habits, there’s a book I can recommend. It’s called “The Richest Man in Babylon”.
